This project is prominently featured on the NYC - School Construction Academy website. LHP took charge of designing a remarkable 31,000 SF addition to HSIS R089 in Staten Island, specifically tailored to accommodate 192 students in the City-Wide Special Education District. The school itself is situated in the Great Kills section of Staten Island and will be seamlessly integrated into the open area of an already established school, PS 037. However, the project poses a set of distinctive design challenges that include navigating zoning regulations, optimizing size considerations, ensuring proper street access, seamlessly integrating existing utilities, and effectively managing drainage solutions.
